Hubungan Obesitas Dengan Kesehatan Jiwa Pada Remaja di SMA Kota Banda Aceh

Abstract

Mental health is a condition that allows optimal physical, intellectual and emotional development of a person and that development runs in harmony with the circumstances of others. The research objective was to determine the relationship between obesity and mental health in adolescents in SMA Kota Banda Aceh. This type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional study design. The data was collected by distributing questionnaires. The population in this study were all students at each SMA. A sample of 142 students was obtained by purposive sampling technique. The statistical test used is logistic regression. The results showed that respondents from SMA 11 (31.69), respondents who were 16 years old (57.75), respondents who were female (55.63), respondents who had a working father (96.48), respondents who had mothers those who work are (76.76,) respondents who have normal weight, namely (33.80), respondents with high activity (66.90) respondents with high knowledge (59.15) of female gender (55.63). The results of statistical tests showed that there was a relationship between obesity and mental health (0.042), there was a relationship between physical activity and mental health (0.026), there was no relationship between nutritional knowledge and mental health (0.432), there was no relationship between sex and mental health (0.552). The conclusion in this study is that the variables that are closely related to adolescent mental health are adolescents with low physical activity (0.037), adolescents with obesity (0.041), poor social relations (0.046). It is hoped that attention from parents to their children to provide food high in fiber is not only high in fat and sugar, suggesting regular exercise to their children to maintain their health. For schools, provide healthy food in the canteen and provide an understanding of balanced nutrition in children.
