Hubungan Social Support, Breastfeeding Self- Efficacy Dengan Pemberian Asi Eksklusif Di Kota Banda Aceh
Abstract
The practice of exclusive breastfeeding is mandatory for infants aged 0-6 months. The percentage of achievement of exclusive breastfeeding in Banda Aceh City is still lower than the national target. Data from the Banda Aceh City Health Office covers exclusive breastfeeding in the City. Banda Aceh in 2019 out of 4507 babies only 2712 (60.17%) babies were exclusively breastfed. The reason is because the implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding is still low and the provision of prelacteal feeding is still widely practiced because local customs think that it is not enough for babies to only be breastfed. This study aims to determine the relationship of social support, breastfeeding self-efficacy with exclusive breastfeeding in Banda Aceh City. This research is an analytic observational research using a case control design. The population in this study were all mothers who did not breastfeed their babies at the Lampaseh Health Center as many as 111 people. By using a ratio of 1:1, the research sample was 222 people consisting of 111 cases and 111 controls. Data collection was carried out from March at the posyandu. Data analysis using logistic regression test. The results showed that the factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding were low social support (OR=3.8; 95% CI: 2.20-7.70; p =0.0001), low breastfeeding self-efficacy (OR=2, 5; 95% CI: 1.51-4.46; p = 0.001), basic education (OR=4.8; 95% CI: 2.08-11.40; p = 0.0001), occupation not working (OR= 0.27; 95% CI: 0.11-0.66; p = 0.004), low breastfeeding literacy (OR=3.8; 95% CI: 2.03-7.48; p = 0.0001), norms and beliefs do not support (OR=1.8; 95% CI: 1.09-3.23; p = 0.021). The conclusion from the research is that the tendency of not giving exclusive breastfeeding to the low social support variable is 3 times more dominant than the other variables. Mothers should be able to increase self-confidence and increase motivation in breastfeeding their babies by asking health workers about exclusive breastfeeding for babies. The need for health promotion, especially regarding intensive exclusive breastfeeding.
