Hubungan Antara Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Spiritualitas Dengan Harga Diri Lansia di Unit Pelaksana Teknis Dinas Rumoh Sejahtera Geunaseh Sayang Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh

Abstract

Communal Quran reading is done as an effort to fulfill this need by reminiscing God as the one who creates, gives power and hope to the elderly. This activity also enables them to have an interaction in harmony with other elderly. Some of them looked enthusiastic to participate in the program, while some others tended to spend their time relaxing in the pavilion, especially the men. It was also obtained that they do not have a close relationship so that activities, such as communal work was neglected. The objective of this study was to identify the correlation between spiritual needs fulfillment and self-esteem to the elderly at UPTD (technical implementation unit) Rumoh Seujahtera Geunaseh Sayang Banda Aceh in 2017. This study used correlative descriptive design. There 52 respondents chosen as samples. The data was collected on 10 to 16 January 2017 using questionnaire which was designed by the writer. Chi-Square Test was used as statistical method to test the data. The results showed that there is a significant correlation between spiritual need with God and the elderly’s self-esteem with p-value of 0.014 (p<0.05), the fulfillment of own spiritual needs and self-esteem p=0.003 (p<0.05), social interaction with the others and self-esteem p=0.003 (p<0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that there is significant correlation between the spiritual fulfillment and self-esteem of the elderly at UPTD Rumoh Sejahtera Geunaseh Sayang Ulee Kareng in Banda Aceh in 2017 with p=0.003 (p<0.05). It is suggested that the elderly who live at UPTD Rumoh Sejahtera Geunaseh Sayang Ulee Kareng fulfill their spiritual needs whether they are in good in condition or not, keep praying five times a day, and learn about Islamic rules. It is believed that these activities will lead them to build a closer relationship with The Creator whether they are in healthy condition or not.
