Hubungan Perilaku dan Sikap Pekerja Pengangkut Sampah Dengan Penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri Di Kampung Jawa Banda Aceh

Abstract

Based on data from the International Labor Organization (ILO), there are 1.1 million deaths. It is annually caused by occupational accidents. Approximately 300,000 deaths occur from 250 million accidents and the rest are deaths due to Occupational Relations Diseases that are estimated to occur 160 million diseases resulting from employment each year (ILO). The purpose of this study is to determine the Behavior Relations and Attitudes of Garbage Workers with the use of personal protective equipment in regency of Banda Aceh. The research is conducted in the correlation research with cross sectional approach. The sample was the official of the janitorial service in charge of transporting garbage in Banda Aceh. The sample selection method is propotional stratified random sampling. The instrument used was questionnaire. Statistical analysis used was Chi Square with significant value α = 0,05. The results showed that 40 people (61.5%) of the officers were using Personal Protective Equipment, the results showed that 25 people (38.5%) of officers had good behavior, the results showed that 44 people (67.7%) officers showing a positive attitude towards the use of Personal Protective Equipment. The result showed that there was correlation between officer behavior with the use of personal protective equipment (p value = 0.002), and officer attitude with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (p value = 0.016). To the Hygiene Department, especially the garbage collectors of Banda Aceh Region, re-activate the Health and Safety Program in the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
