Abstract
Character is an essential thing that is should be developed for learners. A LPTK should produce the teacher who has best character. Nowadays, the current issue is the teacher that graduates from school of education, just focus on cognitive aspect rather than affective and psychomotor aspect. Therefore, for the reason, LPTK should improve develop student character from the beginning of their study. The characters developed in this study are independence and creative character. The purpose of this research is to analyze the development of student’s character through cooperative model. The subjects of this research are two students in fifth semester from PGMI department, namely NJ and NY. The student was chosen base on the information and discussion with others lectures, that is selected because their poor character, from pre eliminary study. The data collecting by usingobservation and interview. The data will analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. Results of study showed that (1) independence character has been developed from two aspects: self-confidence and motivation, while the other aspects such as initiative and responsibility starting emerge. (2) the creative character has improved with activities student, in order to discover media or manipulative media from secondhand thing, such as “puzzle uang” and media to comparative concept are created by kardus bekas.
