GAMBARAN PENGETAHUAN REMAJA TENTANG HIV/AIDS DI SMP NEGERI 9 KOTA BANDA ACEH TAHUN 2018

Abstract

Abstract: HIV/AIDS is commonly suffered by 15-29 years old teenagers. The free sex behavior among
teenagers are influenced by several factors like knowledge, the teenager’s behavior can influence the
behavior change. The well-given knowledge about HIV/AIDS is expected can make them to avoid
HIV/AIDS risked-behavior. The teenagers who knows more about the health reproduction will have
positive behavior (the behavior not to do free sex), negative behavior (the behavior to do free sex). The aim
of this research is to illustrate the overview of the teenager’s knowledge about HIV/AIDS at State Junior
High School 9 of Banda Aceh in 2018. The design of this research is descriptive. This research is
conducted on March 8, 2018. The population in this research is all the students who study at State Junior
High School 9 of Banda Aceh. The sample is taken using proportional stratified sampling technique. The
result of the research reveals that 35 respondents (50.77%) have lack of knowledge about HIV/AIDS. A
number of the respondents, 52 respondents (74.%) good knowledge about the definition of HIV/AIDS. 40
respondents (58 %) have lack of knowledge about the causes of HIV/AIDS. 50 respondents (72.5 %) have
lack of knowledge about the indication of HIV/AIDS. 39 respondents (56.5%) have enough understanding
about how HIV/AIDS is transmitted. In conclusion, it is expected that this research can be one of the source
of knowledge for teacher who works at State Junior High School 9 of Banda Aceh to spread the information
about HIV/AIDS which finally can improve the student’s knowledge.
