Abstract

Abstract: The linkage between obesity and knee OA may be affected by high amounts in adipose tissue which is an endocrine metabolic organ with one of the functions to synthesize active agents such as adipocytokines, leptin, resistins and adiponectin either directly or via inflammatory process controls which can lead to degradation of local joints. Osteoarthritis disease in RSUD Aceh Besar is the third largest disease after cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus. This is seen from the number of patients who do pemengsaan photo roengent. This study aims to determine the effect of obesity with the occurrence of knee OA in patients of Aceh tribe in the Polyclinic of Internal Medicine of RSUD Aceh Besar. This study is useful to provide information whether or not there is an association of obesity with the occurrence of knee OA. This research uses analytical research with crossectional approach. The sample used 53 patients with knee OA. The result of this research is though by using univariate and bivariate data analysis by counting distribution frequency in percentage form by using SPSS application
