HUBUNGAN PERILAKU PEMELIHARAAN KEBERSIHAN GIGI DAN MULUT REMAJA PEROKOK DENGAN STATUS KEBERSIHAN GIGI DAN MULUT DI DESA PUNGE JURONG KOTA BANDA ACEH

Abstract

Maintenance of oral health is one effort to improve oral health. Smoking is one of the bad habits and can cause long term damage both to the health of the body and oral cavity. The purpose of this research is to know the correlation of knowledge, attitude and action of dental and oral hygiene with dental and oral hygiene status of adolescent smoker in Punge Jurong village of Banda Aceh city. This research is analytic. Population in this study all adolescent smokers at Punge Jurong Village Banda Aceh which amounted to 200 people, the sample in this study was taken by Simple Random Sampling technique as much as 67 people. The results showed that there was correlation between knowledge, attitude, action of adolescent smoker about dental health maintenance with oral hygiene status (OHIS) (p <0,05). It can be concluded that there is correlation between knowledge, attitude, action of adolescent smoker about dental health care with oral hygiene status (OHIS) (p <0,05). Teaching needs to be done to teenagers and motivate teenagers about the importance of maintaining oral hygiene and improve socialization to the public about the negative impact of smoking
